Georgia Military College (Prep) School’s Precision Drill Team and Color Guard recently earned a total of nine awards at the Area Four Regional Drill Meet.  The competition was held at Evans High School near Augusta and saw freezing weather with 30-40 mile-an-hour winds.  Twelve other schools in the region were in attendance.  GMC’s cadets faced the elements and competition with a goal to top their previous year’s record of six awards.  Senior and past drill-team commander, Rudy Mills, and sophomore Kip Goss teamed up to perform in the Dual-Exhibition category and received second place out of 21 others for their performance.  Sophomores Rick Griffin and Will Parker received fourth in Dual-Exhibition.  The Drill-Team Commander, Senior Daniel Du, placed fourth in the Male-Individual category out of 25 performances, and Mills took second place with his individual performance.  Assistant Drill-Team Commander, Junior Dawn Hayward, also took second in the Female Individual category.  Our drill is real intense and practice last until perfection is clearly reached on a daily bases, according to Sergeant First Class Rutledge. The Male Color Guard was awarded third place for their performance out 18 other color guards.  This is the first color guard competition for Master Sergeant Jacobs (coach) and the results speak for itself. GMC will be attending the Georgia State Drill Meet on Saturday, March 22 in Fort Gordon in Augusta Georgia.
